What is The L League NYC?
The L League NYC is a recreational sapphic flag football league based in New York City. We host casual pickup-style games focused on community, movement, and connection.
Who can join?
The L League is a sapphic-centered space open to people who want to play, connect, and contribute to a supportive community. Everyone is expected to show up with respect, care, and good energy.
The league is strictly 21+.
Do I need experience to play?
No experience is required. Our games are open to all skill levels, including complete beginners. The goal is to have fun, stay active, and create a welcoming space for everyone.
Is this a competitive league?
The L League is recreational and community-focused. There is still plenty of energy and friendly competition on the field, but the environment is intentionally low-pressure and welcoming.
Games & Schedule
How often are games held?
Games are currently held on a regular weekly pickup schedule:
Mondays
5:30pm–7:30pm
$5
Wednesdays
6:30pm–8:30pm
$5
Every Other Saturday
5:30pm–7:30pm

Where are games played?
Games are hosted in Brooklyn at two locations. Weekly location details are shared through the newsletter and Instagram (@thelleaguenyc) stories.
What happens if it rains?
Weather updates, cancellations, or location changes will be shared through Instagram stories and/or the newsletter.
Signups, Waivers & Payment
Do I need to sign up before playing?
Yes. You must sign up, complete the waiver, and make payment before coming to a game. You cannot just show up on the day.
Signups help us plan teams, equipment, space, and overall game flow.
How much does it cost to play?
Monday games are $5, Wednesday games are $5, and every other Saturday games are $10.
All proceeds go back into the league and community, including park permits, equipment, supplies, and other league operations.
How do I pay?
Payment can be made through the weekly Partiful link shared via Instagram and the newsletter, or through Venmo.
Payment must be completed before attending a game.
What to Expect
What should I bring?
Bring comfortable athletic clothes, water, and shoes you can move in. Flags and other game equipment will be provided when needed.
Can I come alone?
Yes. Many people come on their own. The league is designed to be social and welcoming, so you don’t need to already know someone to join.
How do I stay updated?
The best way to stay updated is through the newsletter and Instagram stories. Weekly game details, Partiful links, payment information, and location updates will be shared there.
